Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to common questions

Do you offer automatic or manual driving lessons in Bedford?

We offer both manual and automatic driving lessons. All lessons are provided in vehicles that are no more than five years old, ensuring you learn in a modern, safe and reliable car. Our fleet includes models from Ford, Renault, Volkswagen and Kia. We believe learning in a newer vehicle helps build confidence and provides the latest safety features.

How long is the current driving test waiting list?

As of February 2026, securing an immediate driving test slot remains challenging across the UK. Waiting times can vary slightly between centres such as Bedford and Wellingborough.
Current Estimated Waiting Time
Although the DVSA does not operate an official “waiting list”, the current estimated wait for the next available test date is approximately 17 to 19 weeks.
Key Things to Know:
The 24-Week Rule: The DVSA booking system allows you to book up to 24 weeks (6 months) in advance. If a test centre is fully booked within that period, it will show no availability.
Monday Morning Releases: New test slots are typically released every Monday at 6:00am. This is the best time to check the official GOV.UK booking website.
Cancellations: Many learners use cancellation apps or check the booking system regularly (between 6:00am and 11:40pm) to find earlier test dates. With persistence, it is sometimes possible to secure a test within 2–4 weeks.
Nearby Alternatives
If you are in a hurry, you may wish to consider nearby test centres:
Kettering – Often similar or slightly better availability than Wellingborough.
Northampton – A larger centre with more examiners, which can result in more frequent cancellations.
Letchworth – Occasionally shorter lead times, though it may be more challenging if you are unfamiliar with the area.

Can you help me manage my booking under the 2026 DVSA rules?

Yes, we can offer guidance. Under the 2026 DVSA rules, learners are required to manage their own bookings more directly. There are useful apps available that can help secure earlier cancellation slots. However, we strongly recommend speaking with your instructor before using any cancellation services to ensure the date is suitable and that you are fully prepared for your test.

What is your pass rate for first-time drivers?

Our current first-time pass rate is 97.2%. We focus heavily on ensuring learners are fully prepared before taking their practical test. This includes conducting mock driving tests on local test routes to ensure you are test-ready and confident, helping to avoid unnecessary test fees.

Do you have female driving instructors or weekend availability?

We offer weekend availability as well as flexible evening lesson slots. We are committed to providing a professional, supportive and inclusive learning environment for all students. Please contact us to discuss your specific requirements, and we will do our best to accommodate you.
